Cultures that eat a high-carb, whole-foods, plant-based diet suffer LOW incidences of degenerative disease - cancer, heart disease, diabetes, arthritis, and the like. On the other hand: Cultures that load up on protein, fat, meat, and processed foods? They suffer degenerative disease in MASSIVE numbers. It's not necessary to break down the 'why's and wherefore's' of the situation, any more than that. Which could bog you down for weeks of unneeded study.
A better option...
Begin to recognize patterns. Individual, highly specialized studies can easily be 'doctored.' Most often to suit the needs or agenda, of he who is funding the study. It's a heck of a lot harder to alter the results of long-term cases involving LARGE groups of people. Read Dr. Campbell's THE CHINA STUDY, for more. In which the author's team proves - beyond ALL reasonable doubt - that those eating whole plant foods garner great health. While those eating meat and processed foods suffer horrific, long-term damage.

If that doesn't show you the power of pattern recognition - and plant eating for that matter? Well, I wager: Nothing will. In the meantime: Eat more plants. Load up on fruits and veggies. Reach for THEM before all else. Stick to whole foods - not their broken down, man-altered counterparts. Stay away from meat! Which has been linked to every degenerative ailment known to Modern Man.
